100% Pinot Noir from a small hobby vineyard in Montrose, on the suburban edge of the Yarra Valley. Perched on an elevated hillside with a touch of volcanic soil, this block has housed mature MV6 vines for over 30 years. Managed in a hands-off way, with ducks and chickens roaming between the rows, the vines have settled into natural balance and now thrive dry-grown. The hand-picked fruit was wild-fermented whole-bunch, foot-stomped and hand-plunged before gentle basket pressing. The wine was matured in 500L puncheon barrels (5% new oak) for 12 months, then blended to tank by gravity.
Perfumed and energetic, this Pinot brims with sour cherry, bramble and black plum, layered with blackberry, forest herbs and a twist of clove spice. The palate is savoury yet vibrant, with silky tannins, bright acidity and a crunchy mineral edge that lingers on the finish. Perfect with charcuterie, wood-fired pizza, or a late-night vinyl spin.
